What will I do as a Machine Tool Graduate?
Machine shops today are well-lit, ventilated, and clean. Modern CNC machines are enclosed in large numbers, so workers are less likely to be exposed to noise, dust, and lubricants that cool the workpieces during machining.
Highly skilled operators of machine tools, machinists can create parts from many materials. These technicians can produce precise parts using blueprints, sketches, or their own designs.
Program Information
Piedmont Technical College offers many pathways to a career as a Machine Tool Technology Specialist. The associate degree program gives students a thorough introduction to the field and practical experience in machining operations that are used in almost every industry. The diploma program will give you a primary specialization in machining within one year.
To help existing machinists improve or upgrade their skills, the program offers certificates in Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) and Precision Metrology. For those who do not wish to study a full-time degree, a certificate in Machine Tool Operator is available.
