You might also want to rent, borrow, or purchase the following equipment for your science party:

  • Beakers, flasks, and test tubes
  • Lab coats
  • Safety goggles
  • Microscopes
  • Magnifying glasses
  • Clipboards
  • A copy of the periodic list of elements
  • Diverse rocks like quartz, pyrite galena magnetite and other agates are available

Science Party Invitation Ideas

It’s always fun to make your own invitations for birthday parties if you have the time. This is especially true if you’re able to work with your child. These are some creative ideas to get your guests excited about your stonehill computer science science party favor.

  • Make a flask shape from a piece of construction paper. Cover the flask with glue. Sprinkle green glitter on top. The party details should be written at the top of your flask
  • Attach your invitation to a vial filled with touchable bubbles. These bubbles come in a neon tube and won’t pop. Safety goggles, a child’s-sized lab coat, or a cool rock can be included with your invitation.
  • Mini plastic clipboards can be used to write party details on index cards. Attach the index card to the clipboard, and give it to your guests.
  • Make a card-sized picture of the periodic table. Write the following poem on the back of your picture.

Decorating & Food Ideas

  • We recommend using bright blue, orange, lime green and bright blue for balloons, streamers, cutlery and partyware. These are just a few of the creative ways your home can be transformed into a science laboratory.
  • Display any recent science projects completed by your child in the living room.
  • You can grow rock crystals several weeks in advance and place them in the party area.
  • Place putty, goopy, or other odd toys on a “weird science table”. A clipboard, rulers, pens and beakers filled with water or food coloring can all be placed on the table. You will be amazed at the bizarre things that your guests bring to the table.
  • You can either place a large periodic list of elements on the wall, or you can cut squares from construction paper. Each element should be written on one of the squares and then taped to the walls.
  • Slide away from the food zone by setting up plastic microscopes. Make slides that children can see, such as grass and leaves, candy pieces, fingernails, fabric, or other interesting objects.
